Some systems are experiencing issues

About This Site

This is the status page of the openSUSE infrastructure team, where you can get updates on how our systems are doing. If there are interruptions to service, we will post a note here.

As always, if you are experiencing any issues with the openSUSE infrastructure, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at admin@opensuse.org or via #opensuse-admin on Libera and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

We will schedule and contain any maintenance it deems as Major to the following time:

Thursday, 08:00 - 10:00 CET for all openSUSE Services

Maintenance
Infrastructure migration - Jenkins

The Jenkins server hosting ci.opensuse.org will move to a new location. Due to the service not being actively used, it will be migrated but only brought back up with low priority.

Edit: The machines have been shut down at the old location.

Infrastructure migration - Jitsi

The Jisti instance at meet.opensuse.org will be migrated to a new location, downtime is to be expected.

Edit: The migration is in progress. Edit 2: Progress is made on meet-test.opensuse.org. Until finalized, meet.opensuse.org will redirect there.

Past Incidents

GPG Keyserver Unexpected downtime on keyserver.opensuse.org

UPDATE: identified wrong group permissions after package upgrade to be the root cause. This is fixed now.

keyserver.opensuse.org is facing non-planned outage. The issue is being investigated, no ETA can be provided though

Wiki pages More wiki updates

UPDATE: we moved and updated all 18 localized openSUSE wikis in the last 6 hours. All wikis should be back to normal. Also, they now support the new features announced for en.opensuse.org last week. If you notice any issues in one of the wikis, please tell us by mail to admin@opensuse.org

We are working on moving and updating the localized wikis, starting in alphabetical order (cn is the first).

During the move, the currently-moved wiki will be set to read-only.

We'll update this page after finishing this round of wiki moves.

Data center Nuremberg Maintenance window: switch exchange

UPDATE: hardware is exchanged and everything is back to normal.

SUSE-IT together with the openSUSE Heroes routinely performs service to Services on an ongoing basis to ensure that everything is up to date and running smoothly.

In preparation of a planned bandwidth upgrade in the Nuremberg data center, a core switch has to be replaced. This might result in short unattainability of all openSUSE services hosted in Nuremberg, namely (just to name the most important ones) the openSUSE Build Service, Connect and the English wiki pages.

We apologise for the trouble caused.

Wiki pages english wiki moved and updated

UPDATE: The english openSUSE wiki has been moved and updated successfully. If you encounter any issue, please let us know by mail to admin@opensuse.org.

The english wiki (en.opensuse.org) is set to read only, with slight possible downtimes.

The reason for the downtime is the move of the wiki from the old Provo cluster to the new Nuremberg opensuse network.

We'll update this page when the move and update is finished.

Build Service OBS under heavy load

UPDATE: This issue is fixed! System working in normal operation again.

After a partial outage, the OBS API is currently under heavy load. The backend part is available and working on the current queue. The issue is solved, but as OBS is working on backlog, the service has performance issues at least until 2017-08-29. software.o.o package search is as well affected by this and is very slow at the moment.

Download rsync.opensuse.org down

UPDATE: This issue is fixed! System working in normal operation again.

While download.opensuse.org is still up and running, our rsync.opensuse.org mirror is currently down (reason: lost network connection completely after trying to re-establish IPv6 connectivity - might be a configuration problem).

We are currently trying to reach out to the data center folks to get remote access to the machine - if this fails, we need to travel to the location, which will take some time.

We need to travel to the external data center to bring the machine up again. This will happen on Monday, 2017-06-26. Stay tuned. (happened)

Weblate upgrade

Major upgrade of the Weblate server is planned. It will require database migration, and servers being read-only or off. We expect that Weblate migration outage is planned between Jun 19 and Jun 21. During the migration, openSUSE Weblate will be read-only or off. Please follow https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-translation/2017-06/msg00002.html
